Waterworks Nature Reserve & Golf Centre
The WaterWorks centre, golf course and nature reserve have been open to the public for five years.
The WaterWorks centre has an interpretation room where visitors can find out about the history of the nature reserve, a shop to purchase golf equipment, bird feeders and seeds or just small gifts as mementos of your visit. It also boasts an exceptional café.
There is a large room which is available for functions, conferences, meetings for which we can also offer catering. We have all levels of golf tution available including lessons for all ages and we deliver Tri Golf and Golf Extreme in partnership with the Golf foundation.
There is also a volunteer section within the Authority that helps us to maintain the sites.

The WaterWorks combines a fantastic heritage nature reserve with an 18 hole par 3 course. Before the development of the site, it was divided between a golf course and the old filter beds that used to supply clean water to East London.
In 2002, the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority developed the site into what it is today and added the visitors centre to make it into a fantastic attraction.
The WaterWorks is a Quest accredited centre, an award within the Leisure Industry that recognises best practice.
The nature reserve is also a Green Flag accredited site, a coveted award recognising how the site is managed to the highest standard.
Accessibility
The site is fully accessible for disabled users and pushchairs. There is also hard of hearing systems in place and interpretation for the visually impaired.
News
As a starter centre for golf, we are developing links with neighbouring Picketts Lock course to enable us to promote our developing golfers when they reach the stage where it would be of benefit to them to use a full size 18 hole course.
We also deliver Tri and Extreme Golf to schools throughout the region, along with our Youth and Schools team who hold nature and education sessions at the WaterWorks for school children of all ages.
Site Management
We have a Business Plan for the centre and a Management Plan for the nature reserve. These help us manage the sites in a way that benefits the site, staff and customers and encourage the growth of wildlife in the area.
