Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to gain job-specific skills while working alongside experienced staff.
As part of an apprenticeship, you will undertake qualifications with a local training provider and have a mentor or supervisor in the workplace to support you.

How can an Authority apprenticeship help with future employment?

An apprenticeship will give you the knowledge, skills and experience you need to apply for a job in the area you have trained in.
At the end of your apprenticeship contract, if you have performed well, you should be in a good position to apply for any related positions that are being advertised within the Authority.

How long is an Authority apprenticeship?

Most intermediate apprenticeships take one year to complete so you will be on a one year contract. If you have been successful in your first year, you can talk to your manager about extending your contract to do an advanced apprenticeship or look out for other opportunities within the Authority.

Who can apply?

Anyone living in England, over 16 and not in full-time education can apply to be an apprentice.
The Authority offers apprenticeship training in various sections/sites and venues.
You must be able to complete qualifications at Level 2.

If your application is successful, you will be contacted and asked to attend an interview.
At the interview you will be asked different questions relating to the apprenticeship job description and person specification, and you may be given a simple task to complete that relates to the job.
