London 2012 Sports Development Programmes

  • Sports Leadership
Many schools and colleges are placing a big emphasis on volunteering and sports leadership opportunities, and here at Lee Valley Regional Park we recognise the part we can play in offering practical knowledge and experience to any young person wishing to develop their community sports skills.
  • Careers in Sport
Supporting the CSLA ‘Sports and Recreation in the UK’ module, we are able to offer schools and colleges practical advice regarding the potential career opportunities available to any young person wishing to develop a career in sport.

  • Schools London 2012 Programmes
Many schools have already taken advantage of the ‘Get Set’ London2012 Education Programme http://getset.london2012.com/en/home and have developed innovative projects that will promote the Olympic Games values and inspire young people. Lee Valley Regional Park can support any schools wishing to bring their London 2012 programmes to life, by offering guided tours of high performance centres as well as delivering inspirational speeches that will bring the London 2012 Games to life. Why not combine a tour with some sports activity at one of our many quality leisure facilities?

  • Sports Leadership Academies
The benefits of sports participation and volunteering are endless and many schools have recognised the part their students can play in helping to delivering sports coaching opportunities within their community. Nearly six million volunteers make sport happen in England (that’s 26% of all volunteers); young sports volunteers are in a position to make a powerful contribution to the health and well being of their local communities.

For more information on any of these sports development programmes, please contact us on 01992 709 902 or sportsdev@leevalleypark.org.uk

Lee Valley Regional Park recognises the important part that young people can play in encouraging more participation locally and we are able to support school sports Leadership Academies and Sports Ambassador Programmes by offering access to our sports facilities and class training rooms. As well as access to our facilities, we are also able to provide students with practical information on the types of sports volunteering opportunities available to them.
