EXPLORE PROJECT
Discover the Lee Valley Regional Park in bite size portions. Choose two or three different half hour programmes from our list of sensory, art and environmental lesson plans to create a unique programme for your students. Options include: magic sticks, understanding patterns in nature, the unnatural tree trail, making a tasty bird food cake or exploring the park using all your senses. This programme allows you to adapt your session to make it as relevant and as fun as possible. Please contact a member of the Youth and Schools Service for information and a list of the possible half hour lesson plans that could be included.
CONSERVATION PROJECTS
If practical sessions suit your group why not help to conserve the wildlife and habitats of the Lee Valley Regional Park? Depending on the time of year a variety of tasks can be offered at a range of locations throughout the Park. All sessions are free and led by Lee Valley Park staff.
ORIENTEERING/ TEAM BUILDING
Put your team to the test. Students navigate part of our permanent orienteering course. Working in groups they learn the fundamental principles of using a compass and map reading.
ACCESSIBILITY
The majority of the Regional Park is fully accessible to those with mobility issues. Most of the Lee Valley Regional Park has hard paved paths running throughout. Many of our sites benefit from easy access gates and ramps.

Farm Discovery Day (for Special Needs schools or special needs students)
This programme will be run over two days 30 April and 1 May. There will be two sessions each day. Groups will only attend one session but can stay for a self guided visit around the farm for the rest of the day.
For each session students will be given a safety talk, then they will learn about the sheep, be able to touch fleeces and hopefully see lambs feeding.
Students will then move around three different fifteen minute activities:
- Chicken feeding and a 'who’s egg' quiz
-
Rabbits and guinea pigs, petting and learning how to care for pets
-
Cows – have a go at milking a model cow and play the 'field to fridge' game
All students will then join back together for a final session to watch some sheep racing.
Individual activities will be adapted to suit the needs of the individuals in the group.
