The routes

The 10k and Fun Run routes are wholly within the River Lee Country Park meaning that you don’t need to run on any public roads. From the start the routes will follow the Park’s designated pathways along rivers, through woodland and around lakes and will bring you back to your starting position to cross the finishing line.

The routes will be sign posted and marshaled in key points to ensure that you follow the correct pathways and for your safety.

The start and finish area for both runs are located off Highbridge Street, between the two waterways, in the Showground area.

The 10km route follows Horsemill Stream northwards, passing Hooks Marsh Lake and Seventy Acres Lake, passing Cheshunt Lock to the north. The route then crosses the River Lee Navigation and follows the pathway south to the west of the North Metropolitan Pit down towards the Youth Hostel, where it turns north, and then crosses the Navigation again, between the two lakes. The route then proceeds south on the west of Hooks Marsh Lake, heading across the navigation at Waltham Common Lock following the pathway around Bowyers Water. The route then follows the pathway east, over the bridge to the finish area.
The Fun Run route (approximately 3k) follows Horsemill Stream northwards, turning west at the bottom of Hooks Marsh Lake towards Friday Lake.  The route then proceeds across the navigation at Waltham Common Lock following the pathway around Bowyers Water following the pathway east, over the bridge to the finish area.

The Fun Run route is suitable for pushchairs and buggies.
