Creating Images from Nature With Digital Photography
Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 July

Course Tutor - David Cottridge.
This is a two day course to learn the basics of digital photography.
(It is possible to attend only one of the days, please phone for details)
 
The programme for the two days is as follows:
 
Day 1 – Creating the image
The range of subjects offered by natural history photography.
Choosing a digital camera and lenses.
Developing a photographic technique.
The basic elements of picture design.
Improving the visual appeal of your pictures.
 
Participants should bring a digital camera as there will be both indoor and outdoor sessions.
 
Day 2 – Processing the image
What is a digital image?
How does digital photography differ from film photography?
Editing your pictures.
Working in Photoshop.
Printing images.
 
Although not a requirement, it would be useful if participants could bring along a laptop and some digital images they have taken for processing on the day in Photoshop. Those attending day one will have pictures taken on that day.
 
The course will be held in the WaterWorks Nature Reserve Classroom. There is a cafe on site which can be used for lunch/breaks, alternatively participants can bring their own packed lunch.
 
Cost: £60.00 for the two days, £35 for one day.

My Garden in Summer

Take a stroll with the head gardener to admire the beautiful flowers and learn a bit about the history of the garden.
 
All are welcome, although this event may be better suited for adults.

London 2012 Changing Places Volunteer Task

Get ahead of the Game and be part of 'Changing Places' and help us to create and develop a cleaner, greener and healthier neighbourhood around Olympic Park.

Lee Valley International Horseball Cup

Join us to watch this fast action game. Imagine basketball on horseback, fast paced with a huge amount of excitement. There will also be plenty of opportunity for you to discover how to get involved in the sport and in horse riding in London. Whya not come and have a look around our stables too.

Ride the Park, Rivers and Olympic Venues

See London from a different angle. A guided circular ride of 35 miles throughout the south of the Regional Park. Starting from Cheshunt, we will pass through and by the White Water Canoe Centre site, Gunpowder Park, Tottenham Marshes and Olympic Park to the Thames, stopping for lunch (local cafe or bring a picnic).
 
Meeting point is Pindar Car Park, River Lee Country Park, Cheshunt at 10.00.

London to Cambridge Bike Ride

A brilliant day out for all involved! The London to Cambridge bike ride starts at the state of the art Lee Valley Athletics Centre at the Pickett's Lock site and winds through the Lee Valley and the countryside to the finish, 50 miles later at Midsummer Common in the heart of Cambridge.
 
Costs: £18 to enter. Spectators free!

Lee Valley Athletics Centre hosts the ever popular school holiday Star Track scheme for children aged 8 - 15 years old.
 
Athletics coaches from the centre will be providing tuition in different athletics disciplines to all children in the star track scheme.

Rivers, Heritage and Lakes Ride

Explore the north of the Regional Park in a guided circular 25 mile ride. The route will take in the White Water Canoe Centre construction site to the south and then follow the river north past the many lakes of the River Lee Country Park to Dobbs Weir, Rye House Gatehouse and Stanstead Innings.
 
There will be a stop for lunch so why not bring a picnic.

Walthamstow Marshes Explorer Guided Walk

Come and join this special two hour guided walk which will look at all aspects of the marshes – birds, history, wild flowers and even the insects of the marshes.
 
Armed with sweep nets, beating sticks and cameras, discover and record the many hidden treasures that make up this beautiful and historical area of the Lee Valley.
     

 
A Walk in the Park

Join us for a leisurely paced walk in River Lee Country Park. This months walk is a dog walkers special, so why not bring your four legged friends along!

Jazz in the Garden
