WaterWorks Golf Centre
WaterWorks Golf Centre

The WaterWorks Golf Centre and Nature Reserve combines a fantastic 28 acre heritage nature reserve with an 18 hole par three golf course and driving nets. Whether you’re simply looking for a bit of fun or to improve your short game this course has it all.

The golf course has been part of the local landscape for over 40 years, and the nature reserve (formerly the Essex Filter Beds) was once home to the East London Waterworks Company which provided drinking water to surrounding boroughs over 150 years ago. In 2002 Lee Valley Regional Park developed the site to make it the fantastic attraction it is today: an award winning golf centre, a Green Flag nature reserve - home to some of the rarest wildlife in the region, and an environmentally friendly visitor centre boasting excellent facilities which include a shop, café and interpretation room.

The WaterWorks Golf Centre offers:

  • Golf: an 18 hole par three course, driving nets, a junior development programme and lessons with a PGA qualified instructor. As a starter centre for golf, we're developing links with Lee Valley Golf Course in Edmonton to enable us to promote our developinggolfers when they reach the stage where it would be of benefit to them to use a full size 18 hole course.
  • Golf Membership: a monthly membership allowing regular golfers to save money on all those crucial rounds.
  • Centre Membership: allows you to benefit from savings on activities at the centre, in the shop and café.
  • Café: you’re bound to build up an appetite on a trip to the WaterWorks, there’s a café with a freshly prepared menu.
  • Room hire and conference facilities: with a classroom/function room on site that can seat up to 80 people the centre offers an ideal place to bring a school group, or a unique venue for a meeting or conference. Catering can be provided.
  • Regular events: guided walks, bird watching, exhibitions and talks bring you an educational and fun day.
  • Birthday parties: take the stress out of organising a birthday event and discover the delight of tri-golf.
  • School/education programmes: we deliver Tri Golf and Golf Extreme in partnership with the Golf foundation to schools throughout the region, along with our Youth and Schools team who hold nature and education sessions at the WaterWorks for school children of all ages.
  • Volunteering opportunities: get involved with maintaining our sites.
