Catch Reports - up to 10th April 2006
Tom Farmer landed Sam's Fish at 31lb + from Brackens at the end of March.
Catch Reports - up to 20th April 2006
New Nazeing Warden Chris 'Chicken' Dymock landed a lovely brace of commons over the Easter weekend fishing on the Centre Lagoon. The 2 fish weighing 29lb 10oz and 24lb 12oz were caught during a session in which the fish were showing fairly regularly. One of these fish, the 24lb one, is believed to be one of the commons that were stocked in February at 22lb, (see gallery) so it's on the way up! Another angler fishing the South Lagoon banked a 19lb mirror over the weekend.
Catch Reports - up to 28th April 2006
Book 'em 'ard Banks New P.B.
Nazeing Meads Warden Co-ordinator 'Book 'em 'ard' Bill Draper upped his personal best this week during his first session since September. Fishing the Willows swim on the Road Bank of the Centre Lagoon, Bill landed 'Gobstopper' at 33lb 7oz using Edge Baits Pineapple Chunks 10mm bottom and pop ups in snowman style. Funnily enough, this same fish was Bill's previous P.B. at 32lb 8oz when he had it from the same swim in 2003. He also landed a 10lb tench during the 3 day session. Pictures are on the photo gallery pages.
Another angler doing well on the Meads at the moment is Ian Henry. He landed a 28lb mirror from the Centre while the Fisheries Task Force lads were doing the barley strawing at the weekend.
After having a few out of Brackens last year, Matt Strase moved onto the Centre and hooked into his first 30 from the main lagoons in the shape of a long 32lb mirror in immaculate condition.
Catch Reports - up to 8th May 2006
Scott Banks Smoked Ham at 44lb 4oz!
Smoked Ham, Nazeing Meads largest resident was landed by Warden, Scott Birch at the end of April and she looked in great condition. The old girl went 44lb 4oz on the scales and set Scott a new P.B. A lot of people think the fish will be out again before spawning at an even bigger weight, we'll have to see! Scott's pictures are on the photo gallery pages.
Another angler doing very well on Nazeing at the minute is Chris Dearsley. Fishing the South at the weekend, he had another of the lakes sought after mirrors, '16.11' at 36lb 12oz. This is the biggest the fish has ever been caught at and who knows, with a bit more time before spawning, it could go even bigger! Earlier on in the month, Chris had another mirror of 33lb from the South Lagoon along with one of 22lb. Keep 'em coming Chris!
Catch Reports - up to 7th August 2006
Wardens Bagging Up!
Nazeing Meads Warden Richard Carey (Budgie) has been putting in a fair bit of time up on the North Lagoon at Nazeing, and it's been paying off! During July he banked a pristine common of 30lb+ then had a cracking weekend session at the beginning of August when he banked 7 carp including commons of 28lb+ and 26lb+, a linear at 27lb+ and 4 stockies up to 15lb. Pictures of these fish will be put on the gallery asap.
Another of the Wardens doing well on Nazeing over the last few months is Gary Gray. He banked his first '30' from the Meads during an overnighter in the shape of a 32lb 12oz mirror. This was backed up by another mirror of 21lb. Hot on the heels of his first '30' from the main lagoons, he banked his second a week or so later, a cracking 30lb 6oz mirror from the Centre, also during an overnighter. Nice one Gary, well done. Photos will be on the gallery soon.
Reports of a new 40 - to be confirmed!
It has been reported to us by a reliable source that there has been a '40' from the South Lagoon, and it wasn't Smoked Ham! We are looking into this claim at present and will let you know of any details as we get them. The angler reported to have caught the fish also had a 27lb mirror during the same session.
