Heritage Lottery Fund Bid for funding at Myddelton House Gardens

The Lee Valley Regional Park Authority has submitted a Heritage Lottery Fund bid for Myddelton House Gardens seeking funding to complete elements of the Conservation Management Plan.

The Conservation Management Plan 1 for Myddelton House Gardens gives a detailed account of the history of the site and a range of proposals for conserving the heritage of the gardens. Conservation Management Plan 2 lists a range of desirable projects which would meet these aspirations and benefit visitors, tourists, local users and the local community. The Management Plan brings all of this together in a structured document to manage the site. All of these documents can be found on the Site Management Plans

In summary there are four key elements which are proposed:

Complete and deliver management plans for the site to ensure structured delivery of proposed projects from CMP2.

Opening of the remainder of the gardens (The Kitchen Gardens) to visitors, developing this part of the gardens back to a Bowles themed usage to benefit and enhance educational visits, participation and heritage training.

Development of an improved visitor facility in the form of a museum themed refreshment facility. Telling the Bowles story in an open museum environment by displaying artefacts, photographs and interpretation for the gardens the history and information of Bowles times at Myddelton House and will also provide a much needed and requested refreshment facility and enhance the visitor experience.

On completion of the above projects this will enable the development and enhancement of the existing events programme, education programme and student training programme.
