Glen Faba

Glen Faba Nature Reserve
The nearest Postcode for this site is CM19 5EX
Glen Faba consists of two lakes, both man made, and are results of the once thriving sand and gravel extraction industry that existed in the Lee Valley, an industry producing high quality aggregate products for the construction trade.

Glen Faba Lake is the largest of the lakes, a mature gravel pit approximately 120 Acres. The other to the North West of the site is known locally as 'Stort Pit'

Glen Faba Lake has recently been opened as a permit only fishery (Max 50 Permits).
Wooded Islands in the main lake – there either as a result of the gravel seam running out and excavation continuing where the seam re-started or site of reject piles. These were piles of large stone material with silt/mud that were of no use in construction and left in piles on site.

A good place to view birds in winter. Cormorants roost on the Southern most Island, Glen Faba Lake. Some bank reprofiling has been carried out in the north west corner of Glen Faba lake.

Access for persons with disabilities would be dependant on the confidence of each individual and any help that may be on hand to give assistance.
