Nazeing Meads has three large lagoons, wildflower meadows and a section of the Regional Park Pathway running through it. It is used by a variety of sailing and fishing clubs, connects different areas of the Lee Valley Regional Park and has a circular route round the lakes with mowed grass paths.
The southern end of this site was once an airfield which was turned into gravel pits, along with the rest of the site and then used as land fill and is now grazed during the summer by cattle to encourage the wildflowers.
The three Lagoons are typical gravel pits containing numerous underwater features, open to fishing with disabled swims. Two types of Season Permits are available, contact the Lee Valley Regional Park Information Service for more details, 01992 702200.
The two lakes on the old airfield site are fished by Lychnobite Angling Society. The Central Lagoon is used by the ESSA Sailing Club.
The Regional Park Pathway runs through Nazeing Meads, from Nazeing Road to Meadgate Road and is due to be extended to join Clayton Hill from the south and the River Lee Navigation towpath from the north.
