1.2 million people and 15,000 athletes are expected to visit London as part of the 2012 Games representing a once in lifetime opportunity for the country and the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority. We own 35 per cent of the Olympic Parklands and have been working with a huge variety of stakeholders and partners to ensure the success of the Games’ legacy.

We’re well on the way with our preparations for the London 2012 Games. Our state-of-the-art Lee Valley Athletics Centre is an award winner in its own right and is the training ground for many of the UK’s top athletes and Olympic hopefuls.

Three Lee Valley athletes were in the medals in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing – Christine Ohuruogu who won gold in the 400m, Philips Idowu, silver in the triple jump and Natasha Danvers, bronze in the 400m hurdles.
The award-winning Lee Valley Regional Park Authority has a record of running first-rate open spaces – we have eight green flag sites – and sports venues, four of which have the prestigious Quest Award for Excellence – the industry accolade for leisure facilities.

The Lee Valley Riding Centre: the only equestrian centre in the country which has the Quest Award. It is fully subscribed with over 100,000 people using it every year. It has the full endorsement of the British Equestrian Federation and we work in partnership with Riding for the Disabled with local groups using us every week.

The Lee Valley Ice Centre, open 19 hours a day, seven days a week. It hosts the full national learn-to-skate programme for all forms of ice discipline and the Centre is home to an internationally recognised team of professional coaches. Through close work with the sport’s governing body the National Ice Skating Association, it is the Regional Centre of Excellence for South East England.
