Artists impression of the London 2012 Games White Water Canoe Centre
The London 2012 Games will leave behind a world-class Canoe Centre for beginner, intermediate and elite level canoeists and will be a major leisure attraction for white water rafting – all 40 minutes from central London.
The Centre is being built by the Olympic Delivery Authority and is funded by them, the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, EEDA and Sport England. We are working closely with these bodies plus the British Canoe Union and a host of other partners to ensure the Centre is an outstanding Olympic course, a brilliant visitor attraction and a first rate legacy venue.
Other partners include
Broxbourne Borough Council
Hertfordshire County Council
Epping Forest District Council
Essex County Council
Waltham Abbey Town Council
The nearby
Herts Young Mariners Base
which gives thousands of people sailing, canoeing, kayaking, bushcraft, climbing and caving experiences;
the
YHA Lee Valley
- a fantastic modern hostel with a variety of first rate accommodation;
the Hertfordshire is Ready for Winners partnership which is using the London 2012 Games as a launch pad to bring about positive changes for the people of Hertfordshire; and
Nations and Regions East - part of the London 2012 regional structure that is ‘Rising to the Challenge’ of the 2012 Games by championing opportunities arising from them and maximising the economic, social and sporting benefits for the Eastern region.
