The northern end of Olympic Park will become the home of the Olympic Velodrome and outdoor BMX Course.
The Authority is working with the delivery partners for this project to ensure that the facilities are built not only to cater for the Olympic disciplines but also with the longer term legacy in mind.
Following the Games, the Velodrome and BMX Course will become part of the Lee Valley VeloPark, a unique centre for cycling.
The VeloPark will bring significant benefits to the local community. It will be designed to be accessible to all, to attract people of all ages and abilities and will improve the health and quality of life for the residents of the Lower Lee Valley. The Authority will continue to work with the Local Boroughs and British Cycling to encourage cycling as an accessible recreational activity as well as a competitive sport.
The project offers the opportunity to develop our partnership working with Sustrans, the National Cycle Network. In addition to the cycle routes already running through the Lee Valley Regional Park, the VeloPark will be linked to the existing network, and embrace the growing popularity of cycling as a pastime and as an alternative means of transport.
