During the London 2012 Games the VeloPark will host Track Cycling, Paralympic Track Cycling and the BMX events, while Hadleigh Farm in Essex will host the Mountain Bike events.
The VeloPark will include a stunning, graceful Velodrome, BMX circuit and seating for 6,000 spectators. The designs were chosen after an international competition judged by leading lights from architecture and design, as well as Olympic Gold Medal-winning cyclist Chris Hoy.

Following the Games Lee Valley Regional Park Authority will own, fund and manage the VeloPark and open it to the public soon after. A one-mile road cycle circuit, various mountain bike courses and potentially a cycle speedway course will be added to create a cycling hub for the community. School children, clubs, groups and elite riders from across the region can train, race or simply cycle for fun. It will also be able to stage major cycling events.
It will be designed to be accessible to all, to attract people of all ages and abilities and will improve the health and quality of life for the residents of Lower Lee Valley. We will continue to work with the local Boroughs and British Cycling to encourage cycling as an accessible recreational activity as well as a competitive sport.

The project offers the opportunity to develop our partnership working with Sustrans, the National Cycle Network. In addition to the cycle routes already running through Lee Valley Regional Park, the VeloPark will be linked into cycle routes across London, connecting the whole of the capital with the new world-class cycling facilities.
