Myddelton House Victorian Kitchen Garden and Visitor Centre
The Duchess of Cornwall officially opened the new centre on 5th May. The Heritage Lottery Funded project restored the beautiful Kitchen Garden and opened the Visitor Centre with the E A Bowles story exhibition. We now have two interesting new volunteer roles:
To greet and provide information to visitors to the Gardens
Myddelton House Gardens Visitor Centre Servery and Information Volunteer
To serve in Visitor Centre Cafeteria and provide information to visitors to the Gardens

Currently we are asking that all our volunteers are over 16 for health and safety and insurance reasons. However, young people under 16 wishing to volunteer can come along at any age and help out as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
Conservation and Environment
Lee Valley Regional Park - Conservation Works
A programme of works has been put together for the sites throughout the park.
These activities are run by the Rangers and all tools and equipment are provided. A health and safety and tool talk is given before each session.
Any one can come along, but please check with the Ranger Team first in case of any changes to the plan.
These sessions are good introduction to conservation management and they are also great ways of keeping fit and meeting new people and are ideal for all those who enjoy being outside.

Volunteer Opportunities
Practical Conservation Management Volunteer
Joining the current teams undertaking various conservation and environmental tasks. This is a great way of keeping fit if you enjoy being outside and working for nature.
Honorary Warden Volunteer
As part of a team of volunteers you will be the eyes and ears of the Regional Park to help the Ranger Team patrol, monitor and manage specific sites within the Lee Valley Regional Park, whcih will ensure the safe use and enjoyment of the Park by visitors. Previous experience of Conservation Management or Conservation volunteering at LVRPA an advantage.
Bittern Information Point Volunteer
Working at our information point at Fishers Green to show members of the public how fascinating the birds that visit the site are. (Bittern in winter and Common Tern in summer).
If you like working with people, are interested in birds and like being outside this could be for you.
Environmental Cleaning
Lee Valley Park Volunteer Litter Picking Association
This registered charity is a small group of dedicated people who help to clean up the Regional Park. They meet every second Monday of the month where they have a cup of tea and a chat before going out to target specific areas for litter picking. They provide litter pickers, sacks, and t-shirts.

Gardening
Myddelton House Gardening Volunteer
This role is assisting with gardening duties at Myddelton House in Enfield which is a nationally important garden created by E A Bowles. Duties will include assisting regular staff with weeding, pruning, planting and general maintenance. The is also the opportunity to join the Bowles Society who are a group dedicated to the gardens and who also regularly volunteer in the gardens to help with the upkeep.

Youth and Schools
Lee Valley Youth and Schools Team
The Youth and Schools Team have opportunities for volunteers to work with them on their education programme. Volunteers can help supervise the school groups that visit the Regional Park.
Crucial Crew
Help our Youth and Schools team to educate 10 and 11 year olds on Safety in the Countryside as part of their Crucial Crew
Fisheries
Honorary Warden and Fisheries Bailiff
Working with the fisheries team undertaking duty at particular times to check tickets of anglers and patrolling waters. Recording fish catches and assisting with any problems when required. Please note there is a currently a waiting list for this role.
Farms and Domestic Animals
Hayes Hill Farm Customer Service Volunteer
Work with the farm staff to run our fantastic cafe, shop and information centre at the farm, and tell customers about our farm animals.
Livestock Checker
Livestock graze areas across the Regional Park to enhance the conservation value of these sites. All sites must be checked daily to ensure that lviestock is healthy and that the sites are secure.
Rye House Gatehouse Volunteer
We are looking for volunteers to help run the Rye House Gatehouse in Hoddesdon.
The Gatehouse is all that remains of Sir Andrew Ogard’s once extensive manor house. Built in 1443 the Gatehouse (now a Grade I listed building) still retains features of the manor’s splendid architecture and fine early English brickwork. It is considered to be one of the finest Medieval moated sites in Hertfordshire.
Richard Rumbold lived in the house in 1683 and it was he who helped to hatch the Rye House Plot, an unsuccessful conspiracy to assassinate King Charles II and his brother, the Duke of York.
Volunteers are needed to man the Gatehouse which is open weekends and Bank Holidays from Good Friday to the end of September. Volunteers are needed on open days from 10.00 - 16.00.

Golf volunteering at the Waterworks.
Checking tickets and assisting the golf development coach.
Tri Golf Activator
Help teach basic golf to children and young people at the Waterworks
Volunteer Athletics Officials
Assist with officiating at athletics events.
Ice Centre Event Volunteer
Assist in the delivery of the Ice Centre events calendar to provide an enjoyable experience for all those involved at the centre.
Ice Centre Information Volunteer
To act as an information assistant for anyone with enquiries about the Regional Park and the areas around it.
