Kingfisher
These stunning birds can be seen on rivers and waterbodies along the Lee Valley feeding on small fish and making spectacular dives from perches. Kingfishers are good indicators of the quality of wetland habitats.
The Regional Park as a whole is an excellent place to see Kingfisher, listen out for their shrill call, announcing their arrival. There are a number of artificial breeding banks that have been built, visit Rye Meads Nature Reserve or the Waterworks Nature Reserve in the spring and summer to see them in use.
