Sporting Futures: See It, Try It, Love It

Volunteer at the biggest Sport and Physical Activity Event this summer!
Last year 4,000 people from across North London attended the Sporting Futures day which saw over 50 providers of sport and physical activity offering have-a-go workshops and demonstrations for the North London community.
This is your chance to be part of the event for 2009 and join the Sporting Future Team!

Venue: Lee Valley Athletics Centre, Lee Valley Leisure Complex, Meridian Way, Picketts Lock, London, N9 0AR
The Event: The Sporting Futures event is a one day showcase aimed at displaying some of the best sport and physical activities available in North London.
The event is free for all to attend and there are demonstrations and activities to try for all age ranges and abilities.
Volunteer Information:
Core Volunteer Times: 9.30am - 5.00pm
What to Wear: Anything comfortable - you will be provided with an event T-shirt on arrival. Please check the weather forecast and attire accordingly (including wet weather!). You may be positioned inside or outside.
What to Bring: There are limited areas to store bags and luggage. Ideally, please try and bring as little baggage as possible, and a small rucksack would be even better.
Refreshments: Drink and lunch will be provided during the day.
Roles and Responsibilities: There are a host of different areas for you to help with. The following list shows the type of roles that volunteers will be asked to assist with. All roles will have the flexibility to ensure that you have time to enjoy the day as well and that you are not stood in the same position all the time.

Volunteer Managers: Taking charge of one of the following zones, volunteer managers will help provide directional support for the sports and physical activity reps in each area.
(Dance, Martial Arts, Extreme, Cycling, Health and Massage, Education and Careers, Competition)

Sport and Physical Activity Zone Reps: To assist the providers in your zone by helping wtih registration and recording of data, as well as assisting wtih managing the competition and spectators. As the 'on the ground contact, this role will also be the communication link between providers and the volunteer managers so that everyone is informed of changes and any issues that may crop up through-out the day.

Welcome and Information Reps: To hand out on-the-day programmes and assist people with queries.

Help Desk and Main Reception Reps: To help with queries from general public and providers as they arrive.

On-the Day Research and Evaluation Reps: To stop and speak to people who come to the day to help find out what is good about the event.

Track and Field Specific Volunteers: To assist with the long jump, high jump and sprint activities by helping with registration and recording distances while assisting with the activity.
