The award-winning Lee Valley Regional Park stretches an incredible 26 miles along the leafy banks of the River Lee, from Ware in Hertfordshire, through Essex, to the Thames at East India Dock Basin. The park provides a unique 'natural' corridor on London’s doorstep and provides a vital refuge for wildlife. It contains a variety of landscapes and open spaces to enjoy, from industrial heritage sites and nature reserves, to a 1,000-acre country park and Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), the Lee Valley Regional Park has something to offer everyone.

We currently have an excellent position available for an enthusiastic Fisheries Officer.  Based in the tranquil countryside location of Waltham Abbey, Essex, you will assist the Fisheries & Angling Manager with the day to day management of the Authority’s fisheries, particularly with regard to technical and operational issues.

To be considered for this role, you should be of graduate calibre (HND, NVQ or equivalent) in UK Freshwater Coarse Fisheries Management with practical supervisory experience of Fish Farm APB management, Bio-Security and the facilitation of Freshwater Coarse Angling within multi-use water bodies and SSSI sites.

As a hands-on, experienced modern Carp/Specimen Angler you must have excellent communication and hands on skills to work alone and to be able to organise, supervise specific Angling volunteers in building and maintaining swims, platforms, access routes etc. Electro-fishing knowledge and experience is a requisite, specifically from boats, to survey, record and monitor data. Arboriculture experience and the necessary skills to maintain all Fisheries equipment, boats, trailers, brushcutters etc.

 The ability to compose specialised angling articles is required as well as to produce our Fisheries ‘Get Hooked’ guide. We also require you to possess excellent photographic skills in order to maintain our stocking and identification record. You must have a full current driving licence including categories B+E and have experience of driving large 4x4 vehicles towing trailers.

 Public sector working experience, widespread health and safety knowledge is preferable as is the ability to enforce Byelaws and Specific angling rules.
