Main Duties will include:

  • To work as part of the gardens team undertaking the full range of duties in the Gardens. 

  • To carry out general maintenance of the Gardens, for example grass cutting, hedge trimming, leaf clearing, and weeding. 

  • To carry out the above tasks using hand and powered tools (e.g. pesticide applicators, mowers, strimmers, etc.) as appropriate and to be responsible for basic equipment care and maintenance.

  • To carry out general glasshouse duties including maintenance, watering and propagation.

  • To assist in the running of activities, events, guided tours/talks and open days in the gardens, which may include evening and weekend work. 

  • To assist visitors to the gardens by answering questions, and by contributing to the provision of gardens material and the upkeep of gardens records.


Successful applicants will be required to obtain a Disclosure Certificate form the Disclosure Barring Service, for which assistance will be given.
