IT Apprentice

18 month contract

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic person join us as an IT Apprentice.

  • National Minimum Wage (NMW according to age) plus Essential User Driving allowance of £1,239 per annum

  • 35 hours per week inclusive of training

  • 18 month contract commencing March 2024


The role works across our world class visitor destinations consisting of 10,000 acres of award-winning parklands and outstanding sports venues, including three London 2012 legacy venues.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a keen interest in pursuing a career as an IT Technician. Main responsibilities include providing IT support for the Authority’s information systems, infrastructure, desktop IT environment and hardware used by employees.


What you will do in your working day

  • Provide high quality first line technical support for the IT service desk via phone, email and in person

  • Escalating calls or technical issues to third parties if necessary

  • Setting up user accounts, password changes through Active Directory and Office 365

  • Keeping records up to date of all users and their hardware

  • Hardware – routine checking, fault finding and rectifying

  • Stock control

  • Assisting with training staff where necessary

  • Learning various Lee Valley systems including Booking Systems, financial and more


What you will learn

  • On-premises and Cloud mailbox / account setup through Active Directory and Office 365

  • Learn multiple booking systems

  • Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows 10, PowerShell

  • Server management

  • Folder permissions and login Scripts

  • Ruckus Wireless Controller

  • Many more IT related applications


The ideal candidate will have a desire to learn and work in IT, be computer literate, be willing to travel to venues when required, have a pleasant manner, good interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer care and be a good team member. 


A full driving licence and vehicle is an essential requirement for this role.
