Our Myddelton House Gardens Visitor Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Catering Assistant to help deliver a warm, welcoming, and high-quality experience to every visitor. What you’ll do
In this varied, fastpaced role, you’ll support the smooth running of our café, tearoom and visitor-facing spaces. Your responsibilities will include:
Customer experience and front of house
Provide friendly, high quality service to visitors, museum guests and corporate groups
Act as barista, till operator and table clearer - offering great customer care throughout the site
Food preparation and safety
Prepare drinks, light meals and snacks to a high standard
Maintain strong food hygiene practices, including allergen labelling and Natasha’s Law compliance
Complete temperature checks, opening/closing checklists, and maintain impeccably clean premises and equipment
Operational and administrative support
Support with ingredient labelling and keeping the allergen golder up to date
Help maintain stock levels, process electronic and cash payments, and reconcile tills
Help with opening and closing duties to ensure site safety and security

We’re seeking someone who brings a positive attitude, great teamwork and a commitment to delivering an excellent visitor experience.
Essential qualities
A passion for customer service and creating a welcoming environment
Experience working in a fast paced café, tea room or hospitality setting
Basic food preparation and frontofhouse skills
Strong awareness of food safety and hygiene standards
Ability to remain calm, organised and adaptable under pressure
Willingness to work weekends and Bank Holidays as part of a rota
Desirable skills (training available)
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
First Aid or Fire Marshal training
Experience with EPOS tills or booking systems
Confidence supporting events and wider site operations
