Learning Outside The Classroom endorsement awarded for educational sessions in the park

Following a robust assessment we are delighted to report that Lee Valley Regional Park’s outdoor learning programme has retained its Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge. This highly regarded endorsement recognises that the service by our Learning and Engagement team provides high quality learning experiences and is able to manage risk effectively.

The LOtC Quality Badge is the only national Quality Assurance Scheme that recognises both learning and safety for all types of learning outside the classroom providers and is awarded by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC).

We have held the LOtC Quality Badge since 2012, successfully demonstrating our high-quality learning experiences which offer a wide range of sessions to schools and adult learning establishments covering activities focused on nature, biodiversity, natural art and sustainability, all set within the open spaces of the 10,000 acre Lee Valley Regional Park.

Kelly-Sue Axford, Senior Learning & Engagement Officer said, “Retaining the LOtC Quality Badge for over a decade has meant that schools and community groups have been able to rely on the quality, value and safety of the sessions we deliver, enabling them to have a visit that caters for all learning and fundamental needs. I am deeply proud of what our team provides, and it is a privilege for us to hold the badge as recognition.”

Dr Anne Hunt, Chief Executive of CLOtC said: “Educational visits are among the most memorable experiences in a child’s school life. The LOtC Quality Badge offers teachers the reassurance that the venue is providing high quality educational experiences and have the appropriate risk management structures in place, meaning less paperwork for schools and peace of mind for teachers. I congratulate Lee Valley Regional Park Authority’s Learning and Engagement team on being awarded the LOtC Quality Badge.”

Held by some of the leading providers of educational visits, the LOtC Quality Badge is endorsed by the Department for Education which recommends schools use awarded providers for their educational visits or trips.
