New members welcomed to our board

We have welcomed nine new members to our Authority Board this month. Long serving member Paul Osborn is our new vice chair and will work alongside chair of the board Ross Houston.

Our board sets the strategy for the park Authority, ensuring it continues to deliver world class facilities, green and open spaces for people and habitats for wildlife along its 26 mile route from Ware in Hertfordshire to the banks of the River Thames in east London. 18 councillor members are nominated by their councils in London, Essex and Hertfordshire, while 10 members are chosen by London Councils from councils in further away boroughs. As we welcomed in our new members we said a fond farewell and thank you to nine long serving members who had stood down as councillors or lost their seats on their councils at the May elections. Members of our board must be serving councillors.

Heather – who’d been a member of the Authority board for 16 years including the last year as vice chair – said “I’m really sad to go, but I will have more time for just visiting and enjoying the Park.”

Chris, who had also been a member of the Authority board for 16 years, said: “Lee Valley has always given me a huge amount of pleasure. There’s exemplary cross working and I’m looking forward to continued enjoyment of all the Park has to offer.”

Nicholas, who’d been on the Authority board for four years, said “This has been a great time at a well organised Authority, which is a tribute to all the staff working here.”
