Two iconic London venues set to stage a landmark summer of European hockey

Release date:

30 January 2026

London will provide the stage for a landmark summer of international hockey in 2027, with two world-class venues hosting the sport’s best players as EuroChamps27 come to the capital.

Spanning iconic Olympic legacy facilities and one of English sport’s most recognisable rugby stadiums, the championships will unfold across a unique dual-venue format that celebrates both the heritage and the innovation of the game. Fans can expect worldclass competition, unforgettable atmospheres and a festival of hockey delivered in venues with proven pedigree for hosting the biggest moments in international sport.

Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre: a world-leading hockey stage

The opening phase of the championships will be staged at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, a venue synonymous with international hockey, owned by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and managed by GLL, a charitable social enterprise and worker-owned cooperative operating under the community brand Better.

Home to England Hockey’s international events for more than a decade, Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre has hosted an extraordinary programme of 14 major events since opening after the London 2012 Games, helping to define a generation of hockey moments on English soil.

In 2027, the venue will once again take centre stage, hosting the group stages of the EuroHockey Championships and delivering world-class hockey in a venue that brings fans close to the action. The tournament takes place in a milestone year for venue owner Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, as they celebrate the Authority’s 60th anniversary - a fitting backdrop for welcoming Europe’s best teams to a venue that has inspired participation, performance and pride for decades.

Shaun Dawson, Chief Executive of Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, owner of the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, said “As we mark the 60th anniversary of Lee Valley Regional Park, we’re thrilled to be welcoming the prestigious EuroHockey Championships 2027 to Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.

“We’ve delivered an incredible run of 14 major international events, including the last EuroHockey Championships on English soil in 2015, which have inspired millions and cemented the Lee Valley venue’s status as the home of English hockey events.

“We can’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate this milestone than welcoming huge crowds for thrilling live international sport.”

A showpiece finale at the Twickenham Stoop

As the championships reach their climax, the focus will shift to The Twickenham Stoop, where the tournament’s semi-finals and finals will be played, marking the return of Big Stadium Hockey to the UK.

Home to Harlequins FC, the Twickenham Stoop will be transformed into a world-class hockey arena using innovative pitch technology, recreating the scale and drama required for the biggest matches in European hockey. The venue previously hosted England Hockey’s FIH Hockey Pro League in 2019, demonstrating its ability to deliver elite hockey in a major stadium environment.

Laurie Dalrymple, Chief Executive Officer of Harlequins FC, said “We’re proud to welcome the EuroHockey Championships to The Twickenham Stoop and to be part of the return of Big Stadium Hockey to the UK.

The Stoop has a strong history of hosting major international sport, and following the success of the FIH Hockey Pro League here in 2019, we’re excited to once again transform the stadium into a world-class stage for hockey.

Hosting the semi-finals and finals of the championships will create a memorable and dramatic setting for the tournament’s biggest moments, and we’re delighted to be working with England Hockey and EuroHockey to deliver an outstanding experience for players and fans.”

Together, Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre and The Twickenham Stoop will deliver a tournament experience that combines intensity and spectacle - showcasing European hockey in venues worthy of its biggest ever stage.
